Yes we are alive and yes I will update my few readers on what has been going on! Life has been NUTS but fun overall lately for us. I guess I will start back in November...
For the week of Thanksgiving we went on vacation with Taylor's family to Cancun, Mexico. It was absolutely beautiful! I'll admit I wasn't sure what to think when I heard our location at first. I kind of thought "high school/college spring break-where the cruise ships dump off." I was more than wrong and loved it! It is one long beautiful beach and wonderful surrounding shops and restaurants. Mo LOVED the beach! Whew! It could have been a horrific week and we wouldn't have seen the beach if she didn't like the sand but she did. I bought a cute tent thinking she could crawl in there and play or take naps on the beach during the morning hours. Well she didn't sleep in it but she would crawl in there, reach out and grab sand, and pour it in the tent to play with. Whatever works!
When we got home from the trip we were the only family in North America who did not have Christmas decorations up. It was ridiculous how fast everyone got those up this year! I WILL NOT be one to skip Thanksgiving and put up those decorations before it is necessary. Anyway, we hit the ground running in December with Taylor starting the interview process for residency. OH MY STRESSFULNESS!! For some reason I just did not think about all of the traveling/money that would involve. I only went on one with him and he did the rest of the traveling alone. I will say I feel fully prepared to do the single mom thing going into residency....I think! You kind of get "thrown to the wolves" with it and just learn to put your big girl pants on. The weekend before Christmas Taylor's cousin Amy married her high school sweetheart of 7 years! Geez..that is longer than Taylor and I have dated/been married combined! HA! The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and I am very happy for Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy Richey!! Somewhere in between all of this I woke up and it was Christmas!! AAHHHH!! Somehow I managed to finish shopping, decorate the house, help Santa get all of Mo's stuff, and enjoy oh so bad for your hips yummy food.
However, I was very sad the day after Christmas because I felt like I never got to really experience the true meaning of it all. Christ...the reason we are all here, forgiven, born again, and saved. I was way too caught up in my to-do lists, checklists, schedules, work, surviving, etc.
On to 2010...needless to say after all of the running around from Thanksgiving and Christmas I spent the new year BEING A BUM!! For three days straight I never got out of my pajamas and watched as much football as humanly possible before it all goes away for the season....an entire topic I could go on for days! My sweet baby suffered her first illness and overall she handled it like a champ! I was the not so bright person and didn't take her in soon enough because I kept thinking she would turn the corner any day and get better. Instead her ear got horribly infected, and she almost had pneumonia. SO SORRY MORGAN!! In my defense she just never acted that sick. However I learned my lesson and we will go see the doctor asap next time! :) And I will also say going 11 months without an illness was a heck of a run!!
January will be a very busy month around our house as well so don't be surprised if our next update is around Halloween! Taylor is finishing up interviews, I have started helping with children's choir at church, and most importantly MORGAN IS TURNING ONE!! I am so excited about her birthday and her party. I refuse to be sad (although I will probably ball my eyes out) and I just want to soak up all of the sweet memories I have from her first year. She is such an angel and the biggest blessing of all. My heart swells with huge pride when I look at how far we've come since January 22, 2009. People ask me often how many children we want...well Morgan spoiled us all rotten and I would love two or three more just like her! : )
